Inward processing Relief

Since October 2008 European food processors can no longer apply for restitution to compensate the higher internal European sugar price. That is why the European commission has made a regulation for food processors who export their products to the world market. This regulation is named Inward Processing Relief (IPR) and implies that the European food processor may use sugar from the world market, without paying import duties, in their products with the restriction that the end-product is exported to the world market.
